Flashes of Fashion and Empowerment at Pump Couture 2025
Pump Couture isn’t your average fashion show — and April 16, 2025, was no exception. Hosted at the UBC Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre, this one-of-a-kind event returned for its third annual edition in support of Diabetes Canada, and once again proved that fashion can be fierce and meaningful. The night was all about spotlighting youth living with type 1 diabetes — not just for what they live with, but for who they are. Over 200 guests gathered to cheer on the runway stars, support the cause, and celebrate the kind of courage and community that truly turns heads.
Why We Showed Up
At Vancity Photo Booth, we live for events that blend emotion, mission, and a little sparkle. Pump Couture checked every box. We weren’t just there to take pictures — we were there to help amplify the moment. Our mission was to offer guests something more than a snapshot — a space to have fun, feel fabulous, and leave with a photo (or GIF) that captured the spirit of the night.
Bringing the Booth to Life
To complement the fashion-forward vibe, we brought our Open-Air Photo Booth, giving guests room to move, strike a pose, or pile in for a group shot. But this booth was more than just flash and backdrop — we brought the extras. Guests could create GIFs that looped their twirls, peace signs, and proud pump poses, and they absolutely loved them. The experience was fast, easy, and super fun to share.
And of course, we came with filters. Two favorites? The technicolor glasses filter that made everything feel like a pop-art dream, and the heart-shaped glasses filter that had kids (and let’s be honest, a few adults) grinning ear to ear. Every photo felt personal — something worth posting and printing.
The booth design itself featured a custom Pump Couture frame infused with Diabetes Canada’s branding, plus a glam-yet-approachable vibe that fit right in with the night’s theme of inclusivity and celebration.
What We Took Away
If we had to sum up the event in one word? Empowering. From the fearless fashion to the supportive crowd to the joy in every frame, this night reminded us what happens when celebration meets purpose. The booth became more than just a fun extra — it was a space where people connected, laughed, documented, and owned their moment.
